Every other page of this site is dark, because every other page is about deception. This page is not. “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.” Isaiah 9:2

Acts 16:30 · The most important question ever asked

“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

No seed to sow. Nothing to buy. No expert required, and no fog machine. Just the Book, speaking plainly. Seven answers, straight through.

First

The diagnosis is universal.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”Romans 3:23
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”Romans 3:10

All means all. Not the especially bad; the entire race, and that includes the religious, the respectable, and the writer of this page. If that offends, hold the offense for one step, because the diagnosis is the door to the cure.

Second

Sin has a wage, and it comes due.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 6:23
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”Hebrews 9:27

Death is a payday, and judgment follows it. No reincarnation, no second lap, no séance can renegotiate it. One life, then the reckoning. That is the bad news, and it is very bad, which is exactly why what follows is called good news.

Third

God acted first, and he acted in blood.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”2 Corinthians 5:21

While we were yet sinners. Not after we cleaned up, not once we proved sincere. The sinless Son of God took the sinner's wage, and offers the sinner his righteousness. The exchange of Calvary: your sin on him, his righteousness on you.

Fourth

He died, was buried, and rose. That is the gospel.

“...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”1 Corinthians 15:3–4

Twice in one sentence: according to the scriptures. The gospel comes anchored to the written Word, which is why this whole site defends it. An empty tomb is the receipt: the payment was accepted.

Fifth

It cannot be earned. It can only be received.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”Ephesians 2:8–9
“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”Romans 4:5

Every false gospel on this site sells you something: a seed, a ritual, a program, a feeling. The true one is a gift. A gift paid for by another and handed to the undeserving, or it is not grace at all.

Sixth

So call on him. Believe on him. Today.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:9
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”Romans 10:13

Whosoever is the widest word in the Book, and it has your name inside it. This is not a ceremony and there are no magic words: it is a sinner, telling God the truth: that you are the sinner Christ died for, and that you are trusting his death and resurrection, and nothing else, to save you. “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).

Seventh

And then: know it. He said you can.

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...”1 John 5:13
“He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”John 5:24

Hath. Is passed. Present tense, written down so you may know. Assurance does not come from a feeling, which this site has already told you cannot be trusted. It comes from the same place everything else here comes from: it is written.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

If you just trusted Christ

Welcome to the family, and welcome to the fight this site is about. Three things now: get a King James Bible and start reading in the Gospel of John, talk to God plainly every day (that is all prayer is), and find a church that treats the Book the way this site does. The resources page will help you get started, and the Seven Fronts will show you what to watch out for.
